TABLE OF CONTENTS

This guide helps you find and fix the most common issues with DAKboard: your Screens on dakboard.com, DAKboard Wall Displays and CPUs running DAKOS, and your own devices (Smart TVs, tablets, and the DAKboard apps).

Start with the quick check below, then find what you are seeing in the tables and follow the link to the fix. Each fix explains why the issue happens and then walks you through the steps to correct it.

Is It the Screen or the Display?

Many problems that look like a Screen problem are really caused by the Display, and the other way around. This quick check tells you where to look:

  1. Open your Screen on a phone or computer. In the Custom Screen Editor, use Share and View (see Advanced Features of the Custom Screen Editor), or open your Screen's URL in a browser.
  2. If it looks wrong there too, the problem is the Screen or one of its integrations. Use the rows in On Your Screen or dakboard.com.
  3. If it looks right there but wrong on your Display, the problem is the Display or its connection. Use the rows in On a DAKboard Display (DAKOS) or On Your Own Device.

NOTE: A Screen can still look a little different on your Display even when everything is set up correctly. The editor approximates the final resolution rather than matching it exactly, some Monitors and TVs do not exactly match the resolution of the CPU or Screen, and some devices, like Smart TVs, limit the maximum resolution. See Screen Troubleshooting: Looks Different on the Display and How to Get Your Screen to Fit Your Display.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I get my Videos to play sound?

First, make sure that your Monitor has speakers, or attach speakers to the Monitor or your DAKboard CPU. DAKboard Wall Displays have speakers built in. Next, make sure your Video has an audio track. If you are using YouTube, check your Block to see if the volume is set (see our article How to Add a Video Block to your DAKboard Screen for details). Finally, double-check that the volume is set on your DAKOS Settings page (see our article DAKOS Display Settings for details).

Can DAKOS be installed on any PC?

No. DAKOS only works with a select few Raspberry Pi microcomputers or the Orange Pi 3 LTS. Though it is Linux-based, it is built on versions of Linux that only run on these devices. See our article Raspberry Pi - Download and Install the DAKOS for the list of supported CPUs.
