With a DAKOS device, you can easily remove it from your old account and move it to a new account. This can also be done when you have purchased a second-hand DAKOS device. This article will show you how to do this for your account as well as how to reset a second-hand device.
Moving or Removing a Display :
If you need to make changes to your Displays, moving them to another account or just removing unwanted Displays, follow the steps below:
Removing the Display:
To remove a DAKboard display or CPU from a DAKboard account, go to your Displays & Devices tab, find the desired display, click the three dots, and select Remove Device:
This will work for both DAKOS and non-DAKOS devices you have connected to your account.
Moving a DAKOS display to a New Account:
Log out of the current account and log in to the new account. If you are on the same network as before, you will not need to update your WiFi credentials. If you are putting this on a different network, you will need to connect to that first. Use our article Updating Your WiFi Credentials on Your DAKOS Device to change your WiFi network if necessary.
Next, reboot your DAKOS device by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. Once it boots up and connects to the internet, it will display the Registration page containing your Link Code for devices on version 3.0 and above or your Serial number on devices running version 2.31 and below. If you want to know what version of the OS you are on, see our article Finding Your DAKOS Version.
Finally, navigate to the Displays & Devices page and click the Add button. In the new pop-up window, add a Name to identify your Display, then enter the Link Code from your Display or the Serial Number if your Display is on version 2.31 or older of the OS. See the example below:
In the Assigned Screen section, click the dropdown to select the Screen you wish to display; otherwise, it will display your Predefined Screen. Click Save, and your changes will be applied to your device. Some older devices may also need a reboot to complete the changes. Simply unplug the power to them and plug them back in.
Moving a non-DAKOS display to a New Account:
Depending on what kind of device you are using to display your DAKboard on, the way to add it to your new account will vary. See our article section called Tablets/Other Devices for articles on various other devices you can use.
Removing Registration from a Second-Hand Device:
If you purchased your display from another user and they have not removed it from their account, it is recommended to upgrade your Display. This way, you will no longer need to rely on the outdated methods of our older OSs that are no longer supported. Currently, we support displays on version 3.54 and above. If you want to know what version of the OS you are on, see our article Finding Your DAKOS Version. On version 3.54 or above, the registration will be automatically removed when you factory reset your Display. See our article Reset Your Device to Factory Settings to see how to do this.
If you are on a version older than 3.54, upgrading will resolve the issue for you as well as guarantee that you will be able to use all the current features of your DAKboard account. To upgrade your device, see our article Upgrading Your DAKOS Device. This article will help you identify your make and model display and supply you with the links to the articles needed to complete the upgrade.
