With a DAKboard OS device, you can easily remove it from your old account and move it to a new account. This can also be done when you have purchased a second-hand DAKboard OS device. This article will show you how to do this for your account as well as how to reset a second-hand device.
Moving a Display from One Account to Another:
To move a DAKboard display or CPU to a new or different DAKboard account, first, remove the display from the existing account. Under Displays & Devices, find the desired display, click the three dots, and select Remove Device:
Next, log out of the current account and log in to the new account. If you are on the same network as before, you will not need to update your WiFi credentials. If you are putting this on a different network, you will need to connect to that first. Use our article Updating Your WiFi Credentials on Your DAKboard OS Device to change your WiFi network if necessary.
Next, reboot your DAKboard OS device by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. Once it boots up and connects to the internet, it will display the Registration page containing your Link Code for devices on version 3.0 and above or your Serial number on devices running version 2.31 and below.
Finally, navigate to the Displays & Devices page and click the Add button. In the new pop-up window, add a Name to identify your Display, then enter the Link Code from your Display or the Serial Number if your Display is on version 2.31 and older of the OS. See the example below:
In the Assigned Screen section, click the dropdown to select the Screen you wish to display; otherwise, it will display your Predefined Screen. Click Save, and your changes will be applied to your device. Some older devices may also need a reboot to complete the changes. Simply unplug the power to them and plug them back in.
Removing Registration from a Second-Hand Device:
If you purchased your display from another user and they have not removed it from their account, there are a few things you can do to correct this. First, if the Display is on version 3.0 and above, simply access the settings page of the device and press the Reset to Factory Settings Button at the bottom of the page. This will reset the device and clear the old serial number and registration for you. See our articles Reset Your Device to Factory Settings and How to Access Your DAKboard OS Settings Page to learn more about this process.
Next, on OS version 2.25 to 2.31, you can either open a support ticket with our Chatbot and supply us with an image of the Serial Number that is printed on your device so we can remove the registration for you (an image is required as this will be physical proof that you have the device) or you can upgrade the device to the latest OS as this will remove the old serial number and the need to physically remove the registration for the future. To open a Support ticket, click on the Chatbot icon in the lower right corner of any page, start a conversation with the bot, and type Create Support Ticket to start it. The Bot will walk you through the creation process. Once you open the ticket, you will receive an autoreply. Respond to this autoreply and supply the support staff with the image of the serial number, and we can do the rest. If you would rather upgrade, see our article Upgrading your DAKboard OS Device to see how to complete this change.
Finally, on any device running version 2.17 and below, you will need to upgrade your device as these OSs will no longer be able to reconnect to our systems due to changes in the browser's method for accessing security certificates, or they will not function with the latest integrations. To upgrade your device, see our article Upgrading your DAKboard OS Device.
