TABLE OF CONTENTS

Depending on what you are using as a DAKboard Display, there are several ways you can assign your Screen to your Display. This article will show you all the options.

Assign Screen in Displays & Devices:

For Displays you have registered to your account, both DAKOS and non-DAKOS displays, you can assign your Screens to them from the Displays & Devices tab. To do this, log into your DAKboard account, click on the Displays & Devices tab on the left side of your screen, and click on the image below the Assigned column, as seen below:

This will load the Assign a Screen, Loop, or Schedule window. Here, you can select any Screen, Loop, or Schedule you have created in your account and assign it to your Display. Just click the tab you want to select from at the top, then select the Screens, Loops, or Schedules from the selections in each tab. See Below:

Save your selection, and your Display will update shortly. This will work with any DAKOS device or non-DAKOS device that has successfully linked to your account. See the following Support Articles and sections to see how to link your Devices to your account:

Tablets/Other Devices

Assigning the Same Screen to Multiple Displays:

On the Displays & Devices page, you can click the Checkboxes next to your devices to open the Multiple Display Assignment tool. See below:

Once you have selected all the Displays you want to show the Screen on, click the Assign a screen Button, seen above, to open the Assignment Panel. Then select the Screen, Loop, or Screen Schedule you want to assign to all the selected displays.

The Default Screen and Apps:

When using one of our apps to display your Screens, the Amazon Fire TV App for DAKboard, or the Android Phone App (Currently not available), the Screen will be your account's Default Screen. When you first set up your account, this will be set to the Predefined Screen. Once you create your first Custom Screen (Available with Paid Subscriptions), you can set it as your Default Screen if you like. Only one Default Screen can be set at a time, though you can also set a Loop or Schedule (Loops and Schedules are available on the Plus Plan) to be your Default Screen as well.

NOTE: Loops and Schedules may not function properly with the Apps.

To change your Default Screen, see our article How to Access and Update the Account Defaults to see how to make these changes. Once selected, all devices running the Apps will load this Screen.

Unregistered Non-DAKOS Devices:

If you are unable to link your non-DAKOS device's browser to DAKboard via one of the methods above, the Custom Screen, Loop, or Schedule's URLs into your Device's browser, or log into your account from your Device's browser and choose View on the screen you wish to run on the Device. This will not work with the Predefined Screen on the Free Account.

To find your URL, see our article Using DAKboard Private URLs, as it will show you how to access these URLs. We recommend running your browser in Fullscreen or Kiosk modes to hide this URL from general view.

Wrong Screen Showing on DAKOS Device:

If your DAKboard is still showing the wrong screen after assigning a new Screen to it, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Confirm your DAKOS Display is Online:

To see if your DAKOS device is online, go to your Displays & Devices page. The first indicator will be a Green Circle next to your Display. See below:

This will indicate that we have received at least one signal from your Device within the last 6 hours. You can see exactly when this signal was sent by clicking the three dots to the right of this display and opening its Settings tab. On the Settings tab, you can see things like the WiFi Signal Strength, your Displays' reported IP Address, and the last time we received a connection signal from the Device. See below:

Any DAKOS device with a last connect less than 6 hours is considered online by our service. This is because we perform connection checks once every 6 hours. Your Display may be offline even if the Green Dot and the Last Connect are in this range. You can confirm if it is online if you are on the same network as the Display with the device you are using to view this page, by clicking the View Device Settings button at the bottom of the Settings tab. If this opens a new tab and connects to your Displays' Setting Page, you know it is online. From there, try changing your screen again and see if it updates. If you are offline, try restarting the Device.

Restart the Device:

If the proper screen has been assigned as above, try restarting the device by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. When the device starts back up, it will refresh and begin showing the correct screen.

Upgrading your Display:

DAKboard is constantly improving both our Services and our DAKOS. Some of our Older version of the OS may no longer be able to properly connect to or use our services. Because of this, DAKboard no longer directly supports DAKOS versions older than 3.55. If you have a DAKOS running a version older than this, it is strongly recommended to upgrade to the latest release. Our article Upgrading your DAKOS Device will show you how to identify which DAKOS device you have and help you upgrade to the Latest Supported Version for your device. To learn which version of the OS you have, see our article Finding Your DAKOS Version.

If you do not wish to upgrade your Device, we have started a new Support Page section called LEGACY DAKOS, where you can find support articles for all things still available to use, but are no longer directly supported by our Support Desk team. We hope to continue to expand this section with full details so you can perform self-support until these items are completely retired.

Templates and Community Templates:

With DAKboard Paid Subscriptions, you have access to our Screen Templates and Community-created Templates. These are accessible from the left side of your screen. See below:

Opening either of these will show you all the templates we have created or our community has created and uploaded for you to use. To add a template to your account as one of your Custom Screens, simply click on the Template you want to use and open the Add A Screen tool. See below:

You can set the Screen Resolution, then click Add Screen to place it in your Custom Screens list. Please be aware that if you do not have an open spot for this screen, you will be presented with a warning to let you know you are about to purchase an additional Screen, as seen below:

If you continue, you will be charged for this additional screen per the pricing on our Pricing Page for your plan. If you want to avoid the additional charges, remove one of your unused Screens to free up a slot. See our article High Screen Usage or Disabled Screen (error 429) in the Delete and Recreate the Screen section to learn how to export and remove an unwanted screen.

All templates are fully customizable, so you can change them anyway you like. Some will come with Custom CSS installed on them. To learn more about Custom CSS, see our article Applying Custom Styles to Screens.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why am I Getting a 403 Error or Whoops, Something Went Wrong?

The 403 error, or Whoops Something Went Wrong message, is to let you know you are trying to access a service you do not have permission to use. This will happen if you are trying to use a Custom Screen when you have a Free Plan, or Loops or Schedules when on a Free or Essential Plan. To use a Custom Screen, you must have a Paid Subscription; to use a Loop or Schedule, you will need a Plus plan.

Why is my Predefined Screen not working?

This should never happen when using a DAKOS device; however, it can happen when trying to use this on a non-DAKOS device.

Why am I seeing the DAKboard Home Page?

This can happen for a couple of reasons. If this is happening on the Amazon Fire TV App for DAKboard, this most likely happened because you were logged out of the App. See our article How to use DAKboard on a Fire TV or Firestick for details on this. If you are seeing this on a DAKOS device, you may have logged into your Account from your Display using a touchscreen or connected USB Mouse and/or Keyboard. Rebooting your display should resolve this issue for you.

Why is my Selected Template Showing as Unassigned?

If you have added a Template as a Screen to your account and it is showing Unassigned, this means that you have not assigned this Template to a Display as of yet. See the steps in the section called Assign Screen in Displays & Devices above to learn how to assign the Screen to your Display.

Why am I Getting a 404 Error?

The 404 error will happen if the assigned Screen you were using was deleted from your account and is no longer available. You will need to assign a new screen to your Display to correct this.
