What is DAKboard?
DAKboard is a digital display platform that allows users to create customizable, interactive displays for their homes or offices. The platform includes a range of pre-designed templates and customizable screens that users can use to display information such as weather, news, calendar events, and more. The platform is accessible from any device with a web browser, making it easy to set up and manage.
DAKboard Basics: How Screens, Devices, and Blocks Work:
To get the most out of DAKboard, it’s helpful to understand the three core components of how it works: Screens, Devices, and Blocks. These elements work together to create and display your custom layout.
What is a Screen?
Your Screen is the digital layout you design in your DAKboard account. It’s where you decide what content to show — like calendars, weather, photos, to-do lists, and more. Screens are fully customizable on Essential and Plus plans using the Custom Screen editor. Free plan users have access to a Predefined Screen with basic layout options.
You can create multiple Screens in your account and use different ones across various Displays.
What is a Device?
A Device is the physical hardware that shows your DAKboard Screen — this can be a DAKboard Wall Display, a CPU (like a Raspberry Pi), a tablet, a Smart TV, or a computer running a web browser.
Some devices run DAKboard OS (DAKOS), our custom operating system that adds helpful features like scheduled on/off times and improved performance. Non-DAKOS devices (like Smart TVs or tablets) can still display DAKboard, as long as they stay powered on and connected to the web.
Each Device can show one Screen at a time, but switching between Screens is easy from your DAKboard account.
What is a Block?
A Block is a content element you add to your Custom Screen, like a calendar, photo album, weather forecast, or to-do list. Blocks are the building pieces of your layout. You can add, remove, resize, and arrange them to create a personalized display that fits your style or needs.
