This article is for DAKboard OS devices only.  If you are not using a DAKboard OS device, check our articles in the Tablets/Other Devices section to learn more about resolutions for alternative devices.

DAKboard OS Resolution:

If your DAKboard Wall Display, CPU, or DIY CPU running the DAKboard OS has your Screen appear larger than normal, the resolution may not be set correctly. If you wish to change the resolution to something your Monitor can handle, use the following steps to correct this.

In your DAKboard account, click on Displays & Devices, then click the three dots next to the desired display and select Settings:

Scroll down and select View Device Settings:

NOTE: To access the display settings from your Computer, Tablet, Laptop, or Smartphone, you will need to be on the same WiFi network as your Wall Display or CPU.

On the settings page, scroll down to find the Screen section, and set the Resolution to the desired resolution:

NOTE: Your monitor may not support some of these resolutions. Make sure you know what resolution they will support as choosing a resolution out of range may cause your Screen to fail to display at all. For example, the v2, and v2 Plus Wall Display's maximum resolution is 1080p. Setting the resolution higher than this will prevent the unit from working.

Scroll down further and click the Save Changes or the Save and Reboot button to apply these changes. Restart your DAKboard Wall Display or CPU by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. When it starts back up the resolution should be correct.  For DAKboard OS devices running v2.28 (find my release) and later, no restart is necessary and the changes will take effect immediately.

Supported Resolutions:

The DAKBoard OS is designed to work with High Definition Resolutions and may not work with displays outside of the following resolutions:

  • HD 1080p - 1920x1080
  • HD 720P - 1280x720
  • 4K - 3840x2160
  • QHD - 2560x1440
  • Ultrawide 2K - 3440x1440
  • Ultrawide HD - 2560x1080
  • WUXGA - 1920x1200
  • WSXGA+ - 1680x1050
  • WXGA+ - 1440x900

If you are using the DAKboard on an older Monitor or TV that uses older formats, try setting the DAKboard OS device to its lowest resolution, or if you are using a CPU v4 or CPU v5 (Raspberry Pi 4 or Raspberry Pi 5 respectively) try using Auto as this resolution will use the best resolution available on your Display.

NOTE: DAKboard OS must be used with HDMI inputs on your Monitor or TV. If your Monitor or TV does not have HDMI inputs you will not be able to use the Auto resolution feature.
