If you're unable to log in to your DAKboard account and see an "Invalid username/password" message, here are the steps you should take to confirm you have an issue.

Confirm your Login Method:

Make sure you are logging in using the proper method. Currently, DAKboard supports two Login Methods, Local Login using a Username and Password you create, or Google Authenticated Accounts. If you created your account using a Username and Password, you can later add and remove Google Authentication, but if you created the account with Google Authentication, you will either need to sign in using the  Continue with Google button or you will need to add a local Password to the account to bypass using the Google authentication option. See further details below on both of these methods.

Username and Password Login:

If you set up your account with a Local Username and Password and have forgotten your password, use the password reset link in the login modal on the DAKboard site to reset your password:

NOTE: This will NOT reset your password if you use Google Authentication at Sign Up. Google Manages your Password for your Google account. Unless you add a Password to your Google Authenticated account. See below for more details on how to add a Password to your Google Authenticated account.

Click the "Forgot your password?" link and enter either the email address that you used when you created your account or your DAKboard username into the following form:

You will then receive an email from contact@dakboard.com with instructions and a temporary password reset link. This will go to the Email associated with your account. Please wait 30 seconds to 1 minute for the email to arrive. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder for any messages from the above email address, as sometimes these messages get flagged as spam. Your username will be shared in the Password Reset email we send you.

Google Login:

If you are using Google Authentication, you will click Continue With Google on the login modal of the web page To access your account. See below:

Adding an Account Password to your Google Authenticated Account:

When a DAKboard account is created using Google Authentication, you cannot change your Username unless you remove your Google authentication. This cannot be done by us but you can do it yourself by adding an Account Password to your Google-authenticated account. When you add this password you can use both your Google authentication or your Username and Account Password to log in. This is useful if you want to be able to have a local login method for our Android Phone App or when you need to log in from your Display since you may be prevented from doing so depending on the Display type.

To add this password, simply log in using the Continue With Google button and Authenticate your account to access it. Once in the account click on your Username (this should be the email for your Google Account) in the upper left-hand corner of your account page, Scroll to the Authenticated Services Section, and click on the Create Password button:

A pop-up will appear confirming that you want to add a password to this account. Click the Submit button to receive a Password Reset email to create your new password:

Once this is completed you can then log in using your Username (the Email associated with your Google account) and your newly created Password, or you can continue to use the Continue With Google button as before. If you forget this password, you can now use the "Forgot your password?" button from the login modal to reset it.

If you want to remove the Google Authentication after you have added this password, you can do this by clicking the minus symbol "-" in the Authentication Services section of your Account page. See below:

Make sure you know your password before you do this so you will be able to log in again once it is removed. From here if you want to Update your Username, reach out to us and we can complete this for you.

Troubleshooting:

CSRF Errors:

CSRF Errors can be caused by several issues. See our article What to do When you get a CSRF Error to see how to correct this.

Billing Changes Requiring a Password:

All billing changes you make to your account that will require billing updates, like adding an Additional Custom Screen beyond your Limit or changing your Subscription Plan, will require you to use your account password to authenticate you as the owner of the account. If you choose to add a password to your Google Authenticated account, any future changes to your billing will require this account password. If you forget your password you can reset it by using the "Forgot your password?" button from the login modal.
