If emoji's are missing on your DAKboard Wall Display or DAKboard CPU, you may need to add the Emoji font file. Follow the instructions below to add this font and see emojis on your displays.

Install the Emoji Font

Connect a USB keyboard to one of the available USB ports on your DAKboard device. If a USB keyboard is not available, jump down to the next section.

Press Ctrl-Alt-T on the keyboard to open a new Terminal window.

Type the following command:

sudo wget https://static.dakboard.com/assets/font/install-emoji.sh -O - | sh

Then press enter.

Note: the "-O" in the command above is a capital letter o

This will download and install the emoji font. When complete, restart your DAKboard device and enjoy emojis on your display!

If a USB Keyboard is Not Available...

To remotely connect to your Wall Display or CPU without a USB keyboard, you'll first need to find the IP address of the display. You can find this in the DAKboard settings, under "Displays" next to the name of your device. Keep in mind your computer will need to be connected to the same wifi network as your device.

On a Mac computer

Open the Terminal program, and type the following command: ssh pi@YOUR_IP_ADDR (replacing YOUR_IP_ADDR with the IP address found above), then press enter.

When prompted for the password, type the password provided and press enter.

Or on a Windows computer:

Open, or download the Putty program (free download at https://www.putty.org). Paste the IP Address found above into the "Host Name or IP Address" field and press the Open button. When prompted, type the username and/or password.

Copy/paste, or type in the following command:

sudo wget https://static.dakboard.com/assets/font/install-emoji.sh -O - | sh

This will download and install the emoji font. When complete, restart your DAKboard device and enjoy emojis on your display!
