With your Custom Screen and Paid DAKboard Subscription, you can use the Google Maps block. You can use this to set up a Street View or Satellite View of the location of your choice.  This article will show you how to set this up. 



Add the Google Maps Block:


To add the Google Maps block, open your Custom Screen editor, click the Add A Block button, navigate to the Transportation & Maps section, or search for Google Maps, and add the block. See below:



Then enter the location by the name of the location or a location search criteria in the space provided, and click save, as seen below:



Then enjoy the map of your choice:


Road Map View:




Satellite View:



Settings Tab:


The Settings tab is where you set how you want the block to display your maps. See below:



These settings are detailed below:


  • Location: Here you can set the location you wish to view on your Screen.
  • Map Type: This option allows you to set either a Road Map or Satellite Map view.
  • Zoom Level: This slider allows you to zoom in or out on the location you have selected.



Formatting Tab:


The Formatting tab allows you to access the Advanced dropdown menus. This links to special formatting you can do with your blocks. To learn more about this, check out our article Advanced Features of the Custom Screen Editor.

Can you hide the Map Tools?


No. These tools are added by Google and cannot be removed or hidden in this block.



Do the Map Tools work with Touchscreens?


Yes, you can use the Zoom plus and minus buttons, two-finger pinching gesture (if your screen supports it) to zoom in or out, or even click the links to navigate to the Google Maps page and view in a larger map. See our article Touchscreen with DAKboard OS for more details.
