TABLE OF CONTENTS
DAKboard can pull in weather information from various sources and can be formatted in many different layouts. To get started, open your custom screen and click ADD A BLOCK like shown:
NOTE: DAKboard can only present the data as it is supplied to us from the weather source. We do not control this data, its accuracy, or its changes. We only present it as it is supplied to us from your selected source.
Weather Sources:
All Data comes from the selected weather sources and is not manipulated by DAKboard. If you are seeing inaccurate weather, try selecting a different source or a station closer to you to improve accuracy. Currently, DAKboard supports the following Weather Sources
- Apple Weather: Available with Paid Subscriptions only
- OpenWeatherMap: Available with all Subscription plans
- WeatherBit: Available with Paid Subscriptions only
- WeatherUnderground: Available with all Subscription Plans
- WeatherUnderground no longer provides an API key. You can use your Personal Station API key, or a friend's station API to use this Service. See our article Add a Personal WeatherUnderground Station to DAKboard for more details
NOTE: You must add a location into the space provided so the weather source will work. If you have entered a location and no weather data is supplied this would be because the Weather Source you have selected does not have a station near that location. Try entering the nearest major city to see if the source has a station there, or use another source.
Weather Layouts:
DAKboard can be configured to show weather in many different layouts including the following:
Current conditions only:
Current conditions with a short text summary:
Current conditions with forecast and moon info:
Condensed view with Feels like temperature and chance of precipitation:
Weather Settings:
Your Weather Block Editor will have a lot of options available under the settings. These are slightly different between the Predefined Screens and the Custom Screens available with the Paid Subscriptions. Below is a breakdown of what is available.
Predefined Screen:
Below is an image of what you will see on your Predefined Screen's Weather Tab:
The Settings are as follows:
- Weather Source: This is where you can select the Weather Source that supplies you with the forecast. These options are limited on the Predefined screen and include the following:
- OpenWeatherMap: OpenWeatherMap is a free weather service. This source may have multiple stations near where you live. You may want to use your Zipcode or street address to get the most accurate station.
- WeatherBit: WeatherBit is a free weather service. This source may have multiple stations near where you live. You may want to use your Zipcode or street address to get the most accurate station.
- WeatherUnderground: This will need an API link from your personal WeatherUnderground Station. See our article Add a Personal WeatherUnderground Station to DAKboard to see how to add this source.
- None: Selecting this will disable the Weather block on your Screen.
- Location: This is how you select your nearest weather station. Using your Zipcode or full street address will help you find the most accurate station.
- Units: This allows you to select between Fahrenheit or Celsius.
- Extended Forecast: Use this if you wish to see a 4 or 5-day forecast. You can also turn this off. (NOTE: This feature will only work if your selected Weather Source supplies this data. If it is not functioning then the source data is not included)
- Additional Options: Depending on which Weather Source you have selected, you will see different Additional Options. Below is a list of these options and which source supports them:

This is useful if you have multiple weather blocks showing temperatures at multiple locations, or if you want to target a specific weather block when using Custom CSS with your Paid Subscriptions. See our article Applying Custom Styles to Screens to learn more about Custom CSS.
- Linked Blocks: Enabling this option allows you to use the same setup for your weather block on multiple screens. See our article Linked Blocks and How to Use Them to learn more about this.
